From October 17 to December 13, the Galerie des Residents at the Montresso Art Foundation presents “Minaye Khaali” (The Enamelled Void), a duo exhibition by artists Golnaz Payani and Santiago Talavera.

At first glance, nothing seems to connect the practices of these two artists. And yet, a shared dramaturgy emerges. Before our eyes, intimate and personal, political and social voices take shape. The installation of their works within the exhibition space becomes a narrative engine.

For Golnaz Payani, what is questioned is the function of clothing. Garments, for her, embody belonging — to a geography, a community, a way of thinking, a social class. Clothing is never silent: it is both an object and a metaphor, of memory as well as of identity. Working with brocade and cotton, beads and sequins, she weaves a deliberately feminine narrative. Inspired by Morocco’s ancestral weaving traditions, the richness of these fabrics resonates like the many voices of women speaking through them.
