Gabinete de dibujos
On April 11th, at Gabinete de dibujos, we are pleased to bring together Santiago Talavera and Ernesto Casero face-to-face in the exhibition Todo va a salir bien. This phrase, Everything Is Going to Be Fine—so overused and yet so useful for convincing ourselves that our problems will eventually be resolved, and that, as true masters of resilience, we will be strong in the face of adversity—is the title that both artists have chosen as a motto to venture into the exploration of the contemporary landscape.
Both Ernesto and Santiago, deeply aware of the collateral effects of humanity’s very existence, work through the concept of absence, using ellipsis in visual rhetoric through figures that are cut out and/or disappear. Where are the people who left so many traces, whom no one seems to miss? What became of all those species?
Let’s not worry too much, take a deep breath… Everything is going to be fine.
